Description of the scents and notes found in the heart of Musc el Nabil Oud 5 ml Top Note: Calabrian Bergamot Middle Note: Ambroxan Base Note: Ambroxan
Unlike the other musks in the collection, Musc el Nabil Oud, like the mango version, is characterized by the presence of few aromas. This is due to the presence of ambroxan, whose scent gives the fragrance a marine, refreshing quality with woody and camphor-like notes. This is the unique quality of this synthetic aroma, which is nothing other than reconstituted ambergris. A scent that skillfully neutralizes and stabilizes an oriental fragrance, giving it the scent of fresh wood as well as its oriental character. It is therefore this olfactory substance, highly prized in Arabic perfumery, that resembles the scent of musk and earns it the name oud.
Natural ambergris can no longer serve as the base note for Musc el Nabil Oud. Indeed, since 1986, it has been illegal to hunt sperm whales, which are the sole source of the animal scent identified as ambergris and highly prized in perfumery. To comply with this legislation, ambroxan—a synthetic fragrance—reproduces the exact same olfactory result. In nature, it is found at the heart of sage oil through sclareol. As a result, Musc el Nabil Oud has a very strong woody texture at the heart of its formula. To give it its own identity and prevent it from falling into the trap of generic scent, notes of Calabrian bergamot reinforce the fragrance’s character. They bring citrus notes evoking the sun-drenched warmth and the richness of southern Italy’s natural landscape.
